This project was made for my ACCE 362 - Handbag Design class. I wanted to design a handbag that would emphasize Cacotopia's focus on sustainability. This unique leather handbag features a reusable and resizable crochet tote, highlighting my dedication to eco-conscious design.
To guarantee the sustainability of the materials used, I sourced leather scraps from my own collection and selected a yarn made from recycled t-shirts for the crochet tote. The handbag’s straps are fastened with screw posts, allowing for easy deconstruction and repair. Additionally, a magnetic closure on the handle enables seamless attachment of the crochet tote, which can also hold keys or charms.
This project not only showcases my skills in design and construction but also my devotion to innovative, sustainable fashion and accessory solutions.
Here you can take a peek into my design process, from sketching, to patterning, and construction.
