A comfortably chic outfit, with a tailored feel and vintage details. Both the modern and the antiquated woman wish to wear something that they can comfortably lounge in while looking productively winning.
I created this matching set for my FASH 216 - Patternmaking course. This set features a blouson flared top, with a front placket and lace trimmed peter pan collar. Take note of the comfortable puff sleeve. The tailored trousers have a j-fly closure, front pleat, and built in shorts with lace trimming.
First I narrowed my design down to a silhouette that I liked. I struggled to pick a fabric as I brainstormed. In my illustration I created a clipping mask and dropped in different fabric swatches to get a feel of my favorite options.
The next step before patternmaking was to make my flats. This solidified the different pieces that I would need to draft before construction.
My muslin mockups, my patterns, and their layout on my yardage.
These are tech packs, that describe the materials used and the dimensions of the final garment, so that it can be recreated without the use of the pattern.
